New England Match Best Winning Streak From Tom Brady Era with Triumph Over New York Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has scored five TDs during the current campaign
The New England Patriots equaled their longest winning run from the Tom Brady era as they beat division opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the Patriots secured an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's last year with the franchise in the 2019 season
QB Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
Victory extends the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they improved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to two wins and eight losses
The opposing team had taken the lead at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to finish the New York's first possession
But the Patriots answered in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone in the middle of the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"That was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," Maye commented on the rookie. "He aims to be great."
Justin Fields found John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Borregales booted a two kicks in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the win
